Jill Boyd Composer

Jill Boyd

Composer/Pianist

Jill writes production music for tv libraries. Her past experience includes being a resident composer of the West Valley Youth Orchestra, composing for high school chamber orchestras, and piano music and other genres for the TV/Film industry. She writes from her basement in NorthEast Utah, in between wrangling 4 kids and teaching piano.

She started piano young; playing by ear first, then at age 12 studied a few years with a professor from North Dakota State University. She continued in band; playing clarinet from grade 6 through college, and choir through college as well. She began composing for friends, family, and small events, until tapping into the network of tv/film. Her piano skills include playing synthesizer for a live 80's band; anything from Van Halen to The Styx, as well as classical including Beethoven's 3 movements of the Moonlight Sonata. Jill's vast experience ranging from rock to classical gives her music interesting concepts, and students love to play the chamber orchestra music that's lined with film-like qualities. She knows both notation and how to make a music track; fitting the needs of all musicians/production in the industry.

Jill has premiered in Hawai'i for a chamber orchestra premiere dedicated to those who served in Pearl Harbor, has been commissioned by youth chamber orchestra summer camp, as well as recorded her debut piano album at EastWest Studios on Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood.
